ESG Brief · Green-Building Credits

No rating system awards a point for “having a fire alarm.” The value is different and more useful: NFire’s architecture removes material, avoids demolition and lowers lifecycle burden in ways your green consultant can document as line items against named credits. Below, each lever is mapped to the specific reference in IGBC (New Buildings v4 / Existing Buildings O&M), GRIHA v2019 and LEED v4–v5.

Lever → Credit Mapping

1. Dematerialised install

IGBC NB · Building Materials & Resources
GRIHA Criterion 20 · Global Warming Potential (GWP) Reduction (LCA) , Criterion 19 · Alternative Materials
LEED MR · Whole-Building Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) / Embodied Carbon

2. Retrofit without demolition

IGBC Existing Buildings O&M · Site & Facility Mgmt
GRIHA Criterion 6 · Construction Mgmt Practices , Solid Waste Management
LEED O+M Path , MR · Building reuse

3. Lifecycle O&M & monitoring

AIoT supervisory monitoring, predictive alerts and BMS integration reduce maintenance site visits and nuisance evacuations, and extend asset life — supporting the metering/monitoring and O&M-protocol discipline (fire-supervisory data, distinct from energy metering).

IGBC Existing Buildings O&M · Site & Facility Mgmt
GRIHA Criterion 28 · Smart Metering & Monitoring , Criterion 29 · O&M Protocol,
LEED O+M · Ongoing monitoring

4. Innovation, resilience & wellbeing

Early-prediction AIoT with digital-twin oversight is a defensible Innovation submission, and its detection resilience aligns with occupant-safety and emergency-preparedness themes. Innovation credits require the project to argue the case.

IGBC NB · Innovation & Development, Existing O&M · Health & Comfort
GRIHA Criterion 30 · Innovation (bonus), Occupant Comfort
LEED IN · Innovation, Resilience Pilot Credits

Product-level pathway.

To let a project cite NFire directly in materials credits rather than as a supporting narrative, the product route is an ecolabel listing — IGBC GreenPro and the GRIHA Product Catalogue. These are manufacturer-level certifications to pursue, not claims NFire currently holds.

Read Before Quoting to a Client

  • Contributory, not standalone. These are supporting line items your green consultant documents — no rating system certifies on a fire system alone.
  • Points depend on quantification. Value is realised only when savings are evidenced (metres of cable avoided, C&D waste diverted, monitoring logs) treat the map as the argument, not a guaranteed score.
  • Standards wording. Describe the product as compliant with IS/ISO 7240 and EN 54, STQC-tested never “certified by IS 7240.”
  • Version & state variance. IGBC NB v4 applies from 1 May 2026; GRIHA v2019 and LEED v4–v5 credit names may be revised — confirm the live version at submission.
